Music for the Soul

“The knower of the mystery of sound is the knower of the mystery of the whole universe.”

Hazrat Inayat Khan

Music is the universal language of the soul

Music has always been close to my heart. Music gives beauty to life; it uplifts the soul and helps us express the innermost parts of ourselves.

We all have hidden musical talents waiting to be explored

Everyone has a song to sing and a rhythm of their own to share. I envision a new model of relating to music that brings music back into the community as it was in ancient times. To bring it into the present I lead small community circles where we all participate thus connecting us through the magic of music. In these circles, success is judged by smiles and the music is a source of tranquility and happiness.

At the moment, most of us are passive participants in the area of music. There are a few rock stars and billions of fans. In contrast I propose we place emphasis on the participatory and transformational power of music.

Sharing music in groups connects us to each other in a profound way

I especially love to share music in groups. Our mantra and drum circles are much more than music.  They are an opportunity to reconnect with the heart and soul, to be playful, to support and appreciate each other’s songs.

MANTRA is a tool to clear the mind and elevate the soul

Mantras are chants or songs which uplifts the soul as we tap into our inner essence. Every mantra is a specific sonic code that helps us calm the mind and create new possibilities. Our mantra circles include various mantras and meditations from the Kundalini and Naad Yoga traditions, and also include music from other spiritual traditions around the world.  I accompany mantras with instruments such as the Tanpura, Dilruba and Taus from India, crystal pyramids, crystal bowl, drums, gong, and voice alchemy.

The FRAME DRUM is a great tool on the spiritual path to express soul and creativity

The drum brings us into a more natural and healthy rhythm within ourselves and our surroundings. Studies show that drumming has a positive effect on our immune system, relieves anxiety and stress, and is an effective balm for pain management.  Drum circles are shown to greatly increase feelings of well-being and happiness, and may even function as an anti-depressant!

The drum is a very powerful spiritual tool to connect us to nature and to the roots of the Sacred. Shamans and ancient Priestesses used the drum to travel to other dimensions and to expand consciousness. Drumming is returning as a sacred technology to reestablish rhythmic links with nature and to each other in a more profound way.

Welcome to our Sound Community!

I offer mantra circles, concerts and facilitate drum circles at the Sound Temple, my private studio in Arcozelo, VN de Gaia, Portugal.

“Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.

Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents.”

Ludwig van Beethoven
